OGUN/LAGOS RIVER: WHY IMOSE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE?

A meeting was held in the Imose community today, around 8am in the morning to shed light on the outcome of the security and the reasons why people are not meant to be afraid to cross the Imose river, which operation started more than two days ago.

Yesterday, the Baale (Leader of a community) summoned the people who still remain in Imose community for community meeting on the way forward and to shed lights to the darkness on everybody's mind. Although, the Imose river was reopened few days ago after weeks of abandoned activities due to the security of people in the area as the Oodua Peoples Congress,OPC, was monitoring the movement of the Ijaw youth, who have been terrorizing the area for more than a month now, while landlords kept sleepless night to monitor their streets

According to the meeting held today morning, the Leaders of the Imose community commended the people at for their endurance during the crisis. They assured the people that due to their drastic and unrelented effort to end the crisis that befell the community they have finally resolved it. The Leaders also assured the community that people should not to be afraid to cross the river. The Leaders have assured the people living in the community that, henceforth, the security of the community and the river will be taken seriously as the OPC will be stabilized on every important sections in the community, as certain amount will be remitted to every houses in the community for the security improvement.

The leaders lamented that with all their efforts in writing to the Governments, the Lagos Police Headquarter Zone 2, Agbara Police Headquarter and even to the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who was said to be on an assignment, failed to respond to them in time of the crisis.

The President and Vice-president of the Ilaje community were seen, yesterday in Imose community, in the Baale's house. The President and the Vice-president also assured the leaders that everything is taken care of, there is no cause for alarm in Imose community and other community around them.

Although, Totowu river remain closed and is to resume full operations by Monday.
