MANAGEMENT OF SKYE BANK TAKEN OVER BY CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria has taken over SKYE Bank. After the board and Management of SKYE Bank PLC failed to the regulator's minimum key liquidity and capital adequacy ratio, the CBN has change the board of SKYE bank and replaced it with a new board.

This was disclosed by the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, in a conference held at the CBN headquarter in Lagos.

Emefiele said that CBN has appointed Alhaji MK Ahmad as the new chairman and Tokunbo Abiru as the new MD/CEO of the SKYE Bank Plc. He said this was done as result of the inability of the previous board and management to turn around the fortunes of the bank.


According to Punch, this follows the resignation of the now former chairman Chief Tunde Ayeni and Mr. Timothy Oguntayo the MD/CEO of the bank. The CBN also removed two non-executives directors and two long-serving directors of SKYE Bank Plc.

The CBN as assured that there is no call of distress as this just unavoidable step to ensure that depositors' fund are not eroded.
