LIVE CHICKEN SCENT SCARES MALARIA AWAY
Since many mosquitoes have developed resistance to the common insecticides we use in our homes, scientist have discovered a new solution from live chicken odour.
Last year, it was recorded that more than 400,000 people died in Africa due to malaria, the United Nation, UN, have confirmed. But these mosquitoes seems to be scare of live chicken odour, research have confirmed.
In Ethiopia, Africa, a scientist have discovered that there must be something that scares mosquitoes from chicken which make them not bite them. Since mosquitoes use their sense of smell to detect animals they bite there must be something that annoys them and scares them off from live chicken odours.
Addis Ababa University;s Habte Tekie, according to BBC, who is the scientist working on the research, said that this compound that contains these smells from chicken can be extracted and use as mosquitoes repellent.
This research was carried out in Western Ethiopia where a suspended live chicken in cage was put near a volunteer sleeping on bed covered with net.
