PMAN NATIONAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE 2016

ELECTORAL GUIDELINES

        Pursuant to the additional mandate granted, as contained in the Consent Court Judgment setting up the current Interim National Executive Caretaker Committee of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) dated 31st October, 2014 to run and manage the affairs of PMAN for a period of 18 months and later convene a National Delegates Conference to conduct elections into various offices of PMAN in accordance with the provisions of PMAN Constitution. And in compliance with the resolutions of the National Executive Council ( N.E.C) meeting of PMAN held on the 30th May, 2016, the Election guidelines are as follows:




POSTS TO BE CONTESTED FOR:
1. PRESIDENT
2. 1ST VICE PRESIDENT
3. 2nd VICE PRESIDENT
4. NATIONAL TREASURER
5. SEVEN (7) EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS (with different areas of specialization).
QUALIFICATION:
To qualify to contest any of the above positions, a candidate must have been a financial member of PMAN for at least one year and must have also registered into the PMAN Biometric ID Card scheme accordingly.

ELECTION FEES:
1. President: Forms = N50,000.00, Election Fees = N500,000.00
2. 1st Vice President -- N40,000.00 -- N400,000.00
3. 2nd Vice President -- N30,000.00 -- N300,000.00
4. Nat. Treasurer -- N30,000.00 -- N300,000.00
5. 7 EX-Officio members - N10,000.00 -- N25,000.00

VENUE: 
Venue of the PMAN National Delegates Conference, 2016 shall be confirmed and announced after conclusion of formalities with the prospective host state of the event shortly.
LEGAL MATTERS ARISING
Meanwhile, in a suit filed on 17th August, 2016 on behalf of PMAN, at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Lagos division in Suit No: NICN/LA/537/2016 – between PMAN & 2 Ors VS Federal Ministry of Labour & Employment & 31 Ors, wherein their Counsel Messers Ogbeide Kingsley Ukumhen Esq. and Vure Joshua Kara Esq are seeking various injunctive and restraining Orders from the Court prominent among which are as follows:
1. A DECLARATION that the convening, constitution and purported inauguration of a PMAN Parallel executive by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige is void abinitio and a nullity, on the grounds that the said convening, constitution and inauguration of the said committee were done in clear and violent breach of the applicants fundamental rights to fair hearing as guaranteed under section 36 sub section (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

2. A DCLEARATION that further relief 1 above the said convening, constitution and inauguration of the above Caretaker Committee by the respondents as unlawful, illegal, ultra vires, unconstitutional which constitute a reckless and gross abuse of executive powers, consequently it is non and void and of no legal effect howsoever and whatsoever as the applicants were never notified, neither were they invited nor were present at the said illegal inauguration.
3. AN ORDER of the court prohibiting and or restraining the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Clement Illoh, the Director of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations, Mrs. Chinedu Dike, the Registrar of Trade Unions, Mrs. N. Mborgu, Mr. Tee Mac Omatshola Isteli, Mr. Kevin Luciano Gabriel, Murphy Van Anthony, Mr. Orits Williki, Omas Lance Perry, Hajia Amina Dangaji, Mr Chris Mba, George Dureke, Okey Dike, Daddy Showkey, Uncle P, Yinka Davis and many others either by themselves, their agents and privies and servants and officers from acting now or in future in any capacity regarding the running and operations of PMAN henceforth.
         In another development, PMAN uses this opportunity to express on behalf of the National Executive Council (N.E.C) and the entire members of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) their profound gratitude and warm appreciation to the Honorable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed for his forthrightness in identifying with the visionary leadership and result oriented quality programs of the Pretty Okafor led current Executive through the bar-code technology, which is aimed at eliminating piracy and enthroning an era of economic prosperity for both the creative and entertainment Industry and our beloved country, Nigeria.
