TOTOWU YOUTH PROGRAMME: A SEMINAR ORGANISED BY A CORP MEMBER
Today, June 25, 2016, at Totowu, was held a seminar to empower the youths of the Ejila Awori Communities. The programme, tagged "THE PAIN OF A WASTED YOUTH", was organised by a Batch B, 2015, Corp Member, Miss Onowuko Oghogho Joy, who studied Economics in Obafemi Awolow University. The programme was welcomed by the President of the Corp Member of Ejila Awori section, Mr. Owie Chukwuma Conscience.
Miss Joy, when asked her motive for organizing such programme, she said "Although, I was initially posted to this community to serve my country, which I later relocated due to health reasons, I saw that people from this part hardly value education. Youths and children of this area are following the same nonchalant path to education." she explained.
"I have tagged the programme "THE PAIN OF A WASTED YOUTH" so that youths of this community can understand the reason why education should be valued. This programme is also meant to empower them and equip them for a better future." she continued.
Over six schools were present at the seminar, Toke schools, RUSAB, Easy Good, Graceboris schools, New Stars and Divine Royal. Over eighty-seven students were present with some few ex-students and teachers inclusive. This account was made by Corp member Olawoye Olaide, the attendant registration Officer of the day.
Miss Joy didn't come alone, she came with her fellowship member, Corp member Nwaiwu Favour, Batch B 2015 Corp Member, who studied Urban Regional Planning, an evangelist, Prayer warrior or the Nigeria Christian Corper Fellowship, NCCF. He was also a guest speaker of the day.
The President of the Corp member, Ejila Awori section, also spoke on the day. He enlighten the students and youths on "RETHINKING EDUCATION". He spoke on the actors in the academic room, that this actors are Teachers, Parents, Governments, Religious bodies, International Organisation and Non-Governmental Organisation. On his conclusion he said, "Youth will not get to receive pains until the youth become wasted. So, being wasted must be trapped to advert pains for reward of good success."
When Miss Joy, the organizer of the programme was asked i this will be her only programme in the community, she said, "Am looking forward to be here again. I will like to do this again."
