EURO 2016 UPDATES: CRISTIANO RONALDO'S PORTUGAL PROCEED TO SEMI-FINALS

It was a battle to finish last night in the first quarterfinals of the ongoing EURO 2016 in match between Portugal and Poland.

Robert Lewandowski put his side forward before the Portuguese player leveled up, through Renato Sanchez. The game remains undecided at Stade Veledrome after 90 minutes even with the given 30 minutes extra-time. Although, Cristiano Ronaldo provided some efforts but wasn't enough.

It took the penalty shootout to decide the fate of both teams. The Portuguese team defeated the Polish team by 5-3 on penalty shootout with Quaresma standing to take the last decisive penalty kick not Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal broke the deadlock last night after five meetings to Poland in which the Polish team have been dominating. And they keep their record in Europe not losing in the quarterfinal round. Portugal will now face the winner between Wales and Belgium wich will kick off by 8 pm Nigeria time tonight.
