LAGOS/OGUN WATER WAY ATTACK: IJAW YOUTHS WROTE TO COMMUNITIES LEADERS OF IMOSE AND TOTOWU
Earlier today the three abducted people, who were
in captive since Wednesday, by the Ijaw
youths that have been terrorizing the Lagos/Ogun State waterways were released
by the early hours of Monday, after collecting a sum of N300,000 with an extra
N50,000. Witness said, “Around 12am to 1am the people were released for us”.
It was a mixture of
feelings for the people of Imose land to finally found out that one of the
abducted was actually shot in one of his leg but he didn’t die in the process.
The man shot, who has been confirmed as one of the Vulcanizer in the community,
is presently receiving treatments in one of the private hospital in that area.
But it wasn’t more than nine hours of released, around 10am,
the so called Ijaw youths, were seen again at the shore of the river in Imose, got out of their boat, with masks on their
faces. People started running for their lives, shops were closed, doors locked.
But instead they shouted out that they didn’t come for them but for someone
else. A reliable witness told our correspondent.
They said they were looking for someone else, which they
have written in a letter to the communities at large to explain their motives.
The content of the letter said:
“FROM GENERAL
AKETE,
WE HAVE BEEN HEARING THAT WE ARE
THE ONE ROBBING THE PEOPLE OF THESE COMMUNITIES AND ABDUCTING THEM. WE WANT TO
LET YOU KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONE. IT IS ONE CHIEF ONE OF THESE COMMUNITIES.
HE IS KNOWN AS AKINROGUN OF ISEFUN COMMUNITY, BABA ISILA (father of Isila). HE
HAS TAKEN THREE OF MEMBERS BEFORE, NOW HE HAS TAKEN ANOTHER THREE. MAKING SIX
IN TOTAL HE HAS TAKEN. WE WILL FIND HIM, WHETHER ALIVE OR DEAD, WE WILL FIND
HIM.
TO
THE COMMUNITIES AT LARGE”
Report also reached us that the letter was not only given to
Imose community alone, but to Totowu community as well. Whether the other
communities, had received the same letter we are yet to confirm.
Whether these Ijaw youths will continue their acts till they
find the so called Baba Isila, the Akinrogun of Isefun. How will they find him
without making the people of the communities panic or be in devastation? Will
the communities be like it was again? What will the Government do about this
now? .May God helps these communities.
