FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS TAKES LAST DECISION ON POST UTME


The Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu thinks the sakeholders should know the Federal Government final decision on the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,PUTME.

Mr. Adamu has insist that the Federal Government decision to scrap PTUME still remains the same after announcing earlier this month it decision to stop students from needing to go through PUTME befog gaining admission into any tertiary schools. The Federal Government as argues that only the Joint Admission Matriculation Board scores and certificates should be the only requirements or admission.

According to statement released by press, Adamu said there is need to emphasized on the ban so that there won't doubts on any stakeholder's mind that the Federal Government decision if the final.
Adamu believes that too many examination for a secondary students in one year could be described as traumatic, exploitative and unnecessary.

Ben Ben Goong, the deputy director, press and public relation in the Ministry of education, in statement released, said that for the sake of doubt all schools after secondary schools are regarded as tertiary, whether University, Polythechnic, College of education or whatever name they are called and should be subjected to JAMB scores and any other certificate. He also emphasized that screening is to verify the JAMB scores, check the validity of the students certificate and know if the student is not a cultist.\, even any form of physical examination. After that the candidate is qualified for any tertiary institution.
